Job Summary:
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Membrane Electrode Development Engineer to join our team at Feynman Dynamics . The successful candidate will be responsible for the research, development, and optimization of membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) for applications in fuel cells and electrolyzers. This role will involve the formulation of inks, development of coating processes, and the integration of novel materials to enhance performance and durability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize MEA formulations, including catalyst inks and ionomer dispersions.
- Design and execute experiments to improve the performance and durability of MEAs.
- Utilize coating techniques such as slot-die coating, spray coating, or other methods for MEA fabrication.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate MEAs into complete system designs.
- Perform physicochemical characterization of MEAs.
- Conduct durability and performance testing of MEAs under various operating conditions.
- Analyze data and develop models to understand MEA degradation mechanisms and performance limitations.
- Document research findings and prepare technical reports to communicate results to stakeholders.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in MEA technology and materials.
Qualifications:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Experience with the formulation and processing of catalyst inks and ionomer materials for MEAs.
- Proficient in coating techniques and surface characterization methods.
- Knowledge of electrochemical principles and fuel cell/electrolyzer operation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with in-situ characterization techniques such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry.
Preferred Qualifications:
